This helps us to improve the site by monitoring how you use it, and to respond to any feedback you send us, if you’ve asked us to.
We can not personally identify you using your data.
We store your data on our secure servers in the UK and elsewhere in Europe.
By submitting your personal data, you agree to this.
Cookies are also used for storing session data. The website will still function if you decide to block our cookies.
Payment transactions are always encrypted.
Transmitting information over the internet is generally not completely secure, and we can’t guarantee the security of your data. Any data you transmit is at your own risk.
We have procedures and security features in place to try and keep your data secure once we receive it.
We won’t share your information with any other organisations for marketing, market research or commercial purposes, and we don’t pass on your details to other websites.
We may pass on your personal information to the appropriate authorities if we have a legal obligation to do so, or if we have to enforce the End User Licence Agreement for our software. This includes exchanging information with government departments and law agencies for legal reasons.
You can find out what information we hold about you (we reserve the right to charge a small fee for this), and ask us not to use any of the information we collect.
Personal information provided by you during the order process
Your address details are required by FastSpring (our sales partner) as part of their Fraud Prevention & Detections measures. Unfortunately, we have no control over that.
Please know, however, that we have opted NOT to receive any customers' address details as we're simply not interested in receiving that information. The only personal details we are sent about you are your name and email address so that we can issue a registration key for use in ClamXav. If you give us your order number and ask us to look up your order details online, we will log in to FastSpring's server where your address details may be visible to our staff.
Information provided by you whilst using ClamXav
Some anonymous information may be submitted by ClamXav when it checks for updated versions of the software; this information is purely technical in nature and cannot be used to identify you. You may view the information being submitted in ClamXav's General Preferences, you may also prevent this information from being submitted by disabling the setting labelled "Include anonymous system profile information" in that same preferences panel.
This information will be used to help us understand where ClamXav is being used and where best to focus our development resources.
From time to time, ClamXav may detect suspicious activity on your system and offer to submit files for further analysis. If you choose to upload them, these files will be stored in a secure temporary location on our servers, pending analysis. If the files prove to be malicious, they will be kept in our secure malware store; if they are found not to be malicious, they will be deleted from our servers. If any files are found to contain personal or sensitive information, they will be deleted from our servers. At our discretion, we may choose to share malicious files with the rest of the security community.
No other information, files or data is collected or transmitted during your use of ClamXav.
Information provided by you whilst submitting a Diagnostics Report via ClamXav
When you send us a diagnostics report, certain information (including but not limited to the contents of your Applications folder, downloads folder, startup items and scan / update log files) will be submitted to us and stored on our servers. This requires a very deliberate action on your part and cannot happen without your knowledge and express consent. It is used to provide you with technical support and may provide clues for improving ClamXav's malware detection. The diagnostics report will never be shared with third parties and will be deleted from our servers when they are no longer being used to provide you with support.
